Using a Backlink Checker is a great method to analyse your competition and find out more details about their backlinks. Not only that you can watch the link building strategy of your competitors, but you can also find new places and ideas to get backlinks to your website.
How to use our Free Backlink Checker Tool to analyse your competitors
I am going to show you in this article a case study, so you will understand easier how you can benefit from a Backlink Checker when you want to analyse your competition. The niche is “learn to play guitar” / “guitar lessons”.
Step 1: Make a list of your competitor’s websites
Simply make a Google Search based on your main keywords and note the websites from your niche from the first result pages (exclude sites like about.com, hikihow.com, enzinearticles.com etc. – you can’t use backlink checker on specific pages, so you won’t find out useful information about their backlinks).
I looked on the first 3-4 pages for my competitors (the searches were based on the following keywords: “how to play guitar”, “learn to play guitar”, “guitar lessons”) and I made a list with 14 competitors.
Go to the Free Backlink Checker Tool and type the adress of one of your competitors.
Analyse your competitors backlinks and try to get similar backlinks (you can contact the owners of the websites which links to your competitor and ask them to take a look at your website and write a review / give a link – now it is all about you 🙂 )
Remember: you should never interrupt your backlink strategy
There will be always new ways to get important backlinks. Analyse your competitors, see what is their strategy, what tricks are they using and try to adapt them for your website. Also, do not limit to their backlinks – using their methods try to get more links than them. If you will just copy their strategy you will never beat them. Be smarter!
